Get Glued On GetGlue

Recently I have gotten glued to GetGlue. What is Glue or GetGlue? Before I explain, let me tell you how I came to discover and use GetGlue.
If you follow me on Twitter or the all so many other social media sites that I maintain a presence on, well, you know that I maintain some sort of presence on these various said services. Some I am engaged with more than others.
LA Times: Did 'Star Wars' become a toy story?

This may be old hat for long time, die-hard Star Wars fans such as myself, but Star Wars today spans several generations and you may be at different level of fandom.
Today, The LA Times ran this piece about Gary Kurtz, the producer of Star Wars: A New Hope(affiliate link) and Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back
(affiliate link). He parted ways with George Lucas after TESB and many would argue that Star Wars: Return of the Jedi
(affiliate link) would had been a very different film if the team stayed together.
This is not the first time that Gary Kurtz has spoken openly about how things were envisioned differently initially when he was involved.
Khan Strikes Back

Rarely do I have time to devote to watch movies these days. It is because of that I had this blu-ray disc still in the box set since I got it in the first half of 2009. After popping some long-expired stale popcorn, I decided to sit myself down and watch Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan (Amazon link).
My Magic Mouse Now Has Apple Rechargeable Batteries

When Apple announced new products last week which included a new Magic Trackpad among other goodies, one which may had seemed unusual for some was the new Apple Rechargeable Batteries and Charger.
In fact, this may have excited me more than the other product announcements.
Last February, I finally broke down and bought the Magic Mouse after being frustrated with the little trackball in the Mighty Mouse constantly getting clogged up which required me to attempt to clean it out. When the Magic Mouse was released, there was only a wireless model. I thought perhaps a wired model would be on its way soon as in the past Apple always had a wired version along with a wireless version of their computers mouses.
A Day in a Life - WWPW 2010 (Video)
If you read my previous post, Photo Walking 2010… Officially you will know that I took part once again in this year's Worldwide Photo Walk (WWPW). It took place on Saturday, the 24th of July 2010, the same day that YouTube was soliciting videos shot on that very day for their Life in a Day project. With the material sourced from these video submissions, director Kevin Macdonald will edit select footage to create a documentary movie executive produced by famed director Ridley Scott to be shown at the Sundance film festival in January.
Photo Walking 2010… Officially.
After participating in last year's Worldwide Photo Walk (WWPW), I contemplated leading a walk myself this year. Before I knew it, it was July already (the month of the walk). When I checked to see what walks were available locally to me this year and saw that there were none, I immediately scrambled organizing a walk myself. Once I had the details worked out, I proceeded to submit my application to lead the walk prior to the posted deadline only for their website to erroneous tell me that applications were no longer being accepted past their deadline and therefore would not allow me to submit it. There was no recourse either.

Flipping for Flipboard

It seems like the all of the internet is currently flipping for the Flipboard as I write this now. So much so that it appears to be overwhelmed by it. In fact, I would like to include a screenshot of it from my own iPad, but right now no content is showing up. Even content that is being pulled in from my own feeds such as Twitter and Facebook. My guess is that the Flipboard server is caching content from those sources as well as their own once you add them. I am sure this current bog down is just temporary.
FileMaker Comes to the iPhone/iPad
After struggling to get FileMaker Pro databases to work on the Apple iPhone and iPad by importing them (against their will) into Bento and using the iOS versions of Bento on the said devices, there are now options available for using actual FileMaker Pro databases themselves. Yes, that is plural...
First, the 3rd party software FMTouch which is a universal app (for both iPhone/iPod touch and iPad) has cut its price by two-thirds (now $9.99 as opposed to $29.99).
Secondly, FileMaker themselves have now entered the ring with their own app:
Tron - "Enter the Grid" Free iPhone/iPod Touch Game
In promotion of the upcoming film Tron Legacy (coming to theaters on the 17th of December 2010 in the US) and the upcoming Tron Evolution video game (also coming later this year), Disney has released a new Tron game available for free in the Apple iTunes App Store (for iPhone and iPod touch) (iTunes link: TRON - Disney). Trailers for both are included in the game.

Stay On Target - Trench Run Upgraded
Apps are updated fairly routinely in the Apple iTunes App Store, but it is not often that a game app is updated to the point where it almost feels like a new game. Recently THQ Wireless Inc released an update for their Star Wars title, Trench Run. There have been a good deal of recent updates in the App Store lately for either iOS 4 compatibility (or adding features to take advantage of iOS 4) and now with the release of the iPhone 4, graphics being updated to take advantage of the high resolution Retina Display it offers.

Waiting for the Fireworks
The following is a quick test to see how the iPhone 4 using the iMovie app could shoot, edit, and upload video to share on the net all from the device on location. It worked out fairly well. I'm impressed. The video isn't uploaded in HD though, even with wi-fi. That would be the only real negative now.
Ironic Flag Sticker
I found this sticker on this small US flag I used to adorn my home for the Fourth of July.
Happy Independence Day.
