Getting Back on Feet After Sandy Devastation

After Hurricane Sandy at Barnum Island, NY

Sandy Aftermath Day 338: It's been "a year from hell" recovering and restoring from the mass devastation which Superstorm Sandy caused. There's still a great deal more to do, though it's getting closer to where a sense of "normality" will prevail while ongoing recovery work continues. This means our shows will be resuming shortly including Doctor Who: Podshock and perhaps a new one or two as well.

It's been a long and grueling road to get where things are now from when the storm hit last year. Everything had to be rebuilt from (and including) floor to ceiling. Immediately following the storm and over the first several months recovering from it and dealing with its aftermath I had maintained a blog about it here: Hurricane Sandy Aftermath. It includes videos and photos documenting the aftermath. It was therapeutic for myself at the time, but once I felt I was only reporting the same thing over and over again I fell out of the habit of keeping up with it.

On a personal note I want to thank all the family and friends that helped make this journey. People helped in many ways from financial assistance, to sending 'care packages,' to simply keeping in touch via the net giving moral support and keeping me in the loop. It's really been amazing. Assistance and support came from far and near. Once again, thank you all for your thoughtfulness and generosity. I will do another post in the future addressing more about this… As well as which organizations and institutions came through and which were no where to be seen.

The main purpose of this post is to let you know that things are getting back on track. There were some other issues unrelated to the storm behind the scenes of the websites that needed to be addressed first. I am hoping these issues are now resolved, but only time will tell.
